Working it out

I have to say, I really miss regular exercise.  I never worked out hardcore or was obsessive with it, but I did do way more than I’m currently doing.  I miss running as fast as I could on the treadmill until my heart felt like it was going to burst through my chest. I miss trying out different weight machines and mixing up the lb’s. I miss the stair machine like crazy; and I never thought I’d say that. I miss the gym. The last time I went to the gym was in early July and I only worked out on the elliptical for about twenty minutes.  I broke a tiny sweat and it felt okay, but working out while pregnant just is not the same. And that’s fine.  But I think you and I are sort of on the same page.

I’m not saying that I’m going to end all forms of exercise while pregnant, but it’s definitely going to be less. I’ve decided not to run at all. I’m not a runner and I don’t feel comfortable simply performing that kind of exercise while pregnant.  There are pregnant women out there who do. I would imagine they are hardcore runners, training to become a good runner/training for marathons, and they adore it. It’s a part of them; it’s who they are. I applaud you ladies! I hope to just try out a pre-natal yoga class soon {I’ve found the studio and am aware of it. I just either forgot about it every time Sunday morning came around, or I’m just too tired that day}.  It’s been a good three weeks since I wanted to do it. The next two weekends we are busy, so September seems to be the month to give it a go.  I have been walking a lot, besides my 8 block walk to work five days a week, and I want to pick up my 7.5-pound hand weights and get cracking with some squats here and there. I miss doing those a lot, too. I also like to bike ride sometimes. Gary and I are going to the boardwalk in two weeks specifically to ride our bikes all the way up and back. We do that just once a year in the Summer, but it's fun and a great workout. We will also stop and indulge in some boardwalk treats, of course. I wouldn't forget the best part.

Each day is different and certain days I am just way too exhausted to do anything but plop on the couch after working 10-11 hour days.  It seemed like a lot before. Now that I’m pregnant, it’s a lot a lot. I know once the baby arrives things will totally change and become a lot a lot a lot a lot. Oh boy.  I'm looking forward to hearing that almost every day. I still like to incorporate different things each day.  For instance, last night, when I got home I reallllly wanted to hit the gym. I left work a little earlier and got home around 6:15pm. Normally I’m home close to 7pm.  After a tiny cry to my husband for no reason at all except that I legit was crying about how I’m just too tired to drive to the gym but want to move my butt a little bit more, and scarfing down a delicious Rolo cookie, I decided that I would clean up the front yard. It burns a few calories, I did sweat even though it felt like the perfect Fall day, and it was in critical need of some TLC.  I weeded, clipped, watered and swept for a good hour and it felt great. I’m nowhere near a green thumb, but as long as all is cleaned up and groomed enough so its curb appeal is back, that’s all I care about.

When I did hot yoga. Miss it. A little.

The satisfaction I got just from doing the yard last night was a great feeling!  I hope to take a longer walk when I get home today or {possibly} hit the gym.  I’m a firm believer in of course doing everything in moderation, but that you also cannot fit everything in on one day. That’s a quick way to stress, hard. I’ve been there and done that and it’s not a joyous time.  It’s okay to spread tasks around. Try it; It's very liberating! I also prepared my lunch last night for today. That's a good feeling too, because this morning I was not as rushed.  It was a pretty productive day for me, you could say!

I wasn't kidding about my PB&J's.

Holy peaches!

I also have a salad in the work fridge waiting for me that I didn't eat yesterday.  I'm kind of giddy about it.

Do you brown bag it to work? What do you enjoy/like to make?

Do you feel the same way about tasks and taking everything day by day?

I hope you make Thursday a good one!
